Under the joint project between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), a two-day conference on “Trade Facilitation Agreement: Self-Assessment, Needs and Potential for Bahrain” was held from 29-30 October 2014 in Manama, Bahrain.

The conference brought together all stakeholders in the trade sector; both private and public, such as MOIC, Customs Affairs and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to raise awareness and discuss issues related to the Trade Facilitation Agreement in preparation for Bahrain to fulfill its obligations under the Trade Facilitation Agreement. The Agreement is to be signed later in 2015 as part of the Bali Package which came out of Bali Ministerial in December 2013.

Sessions were delivered by trade experts from UNDP, World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and International Trade Centre (ITC).
